Amy Bornman : Pattern Designer, Poet, Stage Manager : Pittsburgh, PA
Amy Bornman is a champion of the quotidian and of the intimate. Champion may be the incorrect word, but not because of the meaning but because of the aggressiveness such a word suggests. But champion, she is. To anyone who knows her or follows her social media footprints (@AmyBornman) they are aware that this is person who embraces a slower pace of life and is earnest in her search for depth and truth.
Amy owns, in her own words, a “tiny business” - All Well Workshop - where she designs sewing patterns and creates her own clothing and bags as well.
All Well is a creative sewing studio producing simple, intuitive, and super-hackable sewing patterns written with sewists of all skill levels, from never-sewn-before to super-advanced, in mind. We make the kinds of sewing patterns that can be sewn over and over without feeling redundant…
All Well is also committed to helping sewists at all levels learn and stay curious about the craft, making sewing skills accessible, modern, playful and useful. Besides patterns, we’re making creative and beautiful learning resources for sewists like zines, prints, tutorials, and other learning tools.
She is also a terrific poet and wordsmith, documenting honestly and actively through her joint blog/podcast venture Synchronized Swim.
If you, too have a penchant for marveling in the quotidian moments, I suggest you follow Amy on Instagram and enjoy these pages pre-Quarantine days in February 2020.
