Anna Wyckoff : Artist, Fragrance Weaver, Editor-in-Chief : Pasadena, CA

April 3-4, 2020

“7:30pm - I am guilty of always cooking dinner late. We eat in our tiny 1920s breakfast nook which watches the garden. The parrots skitter off in bright clouds and in the distance there are the cries of the peacocks as they roost high in the trees.”

Being with Anna is like being in a rose garden. I suppose that’s because of how I met her - at our mutual friend Madeline’s birthday where we had high tea at the Huntington, which is surrounded by beautiful rose gardens. It’s an old estate from the Huntington family that is now one of the greatest private research libraries, gardens and art museums available to go to and honestly heaven on earth. Anna is lucky enough to live in walking distance of such a place and certainly doesn’t take it for granted. I say being with her is like being a rose garden, because though we have had only a brief encounter, she is slow and thoughtful in her responses, and always seems to be sitting behind a secret laugh.

Anna Wyckoff seeks to find the intersection where her passions overlap by creating portraits in multiple disciplines. As a painter, she explores the role of physiognomy as an expression of the individual in oil. Her latest project Invisible Cities, uses a series of large scale portraits set in Venice, Italy as emblematic of contemporary environmental decadence. As the Communications Director for the Costume Designers Guild, she serves as editor in chief of The Costume Designer Magazine and produces the Legacy Video Series. This allows her to explore the psychological manifestation of personality in costume design. Anna also creates olfactory portraits in scent on commission.

So spend some time in the garden with Anna, and consider the peacocks:
